BIOGRAPHY
Tymoteusz Witczak is a Polish composer and music producer focused on illustrative music. His work includes soundtracks for feature films such as the dark comedy “A Night at the Kindergarten” (Netflix Original) and the FIPRESCI Prize-nominated thriller "Wall." He is the composer for the football series "1992 - Top Game" (Viaplay) by Maciej Bielawski. The documentary films he composed for have been recognised at prestigious festivals: the Best Documentary from Central and Eastern Europe Award at Ji.hlava IDFF 2023 for "Distances" by Matej Bobrik, selected for the official selection of the Warsaw Film Festival “Little Poland," and “When Will This Wind Stop" by Aniela Gabryel, which received the IDFA Award for Best Student Documentary. Tymoteusz composed music for short films such as Paulina Skibińska's "Monika W" and Emilia Zielonka's "Reflection."
He has written music for several theater plays, collaborating with directors such as Piotr Ratajczak on "Limba" (Teatr Układ Formalny), Jan Husakowski on "Kim jest Pan Szmidt" (Teatr Wybrzeże), Grzegorz Grecas on "Zaginiony Świat" (Teatr Maska), Marta Strecker on “Spólnota (TUF),” Katarzyna Dudzic on "Cicho - Tuxo" (WTW), and Jarosław Tumidajski on "Siedem minut po północy" (AST).
He often incorporates elements of horror and experimental music, creating intense and suspenseful compositions. Simultaneously, he contrasts them with spacious, dreamy textures and delicate, emotional melodies. He draws inspiration from ambient music, video games soundtracks, and post-minimalism.
Tymoteusz is also active as a song producer. He arranged and produced Zbigniew Zamachowski's composition "Bo Twój Ojciec Tu Jest" and Karolina Micuła's "Piękny Koniec Świata." He collaborates with 'Projekt MANIA' on a new album release.
He is the author of commercial jingles; his short sound signal won the competition for the 80th anniversary of PR2, and since 2018, it can be heard daily as the intro sound to the "Fantazja Polska" broadcast. He also composed the jingle for the podcast "Polska w Grze."
As a young boy, he loved playing with the strings of an old piano. He underwent a complete musical education, graduating in Composition in 2016 from the Academy of Music in Wrocław. As a laureate of composition competitions, he has received scholarships from the Rector of the Academy of Music, the artistic scholarship of the Mayor of Wrocław, and the scholarship from the Ministry of Culture.
For a year, he had the opportunity to learn studio work, thanks to internships at Ballroom Studios in Dresden, where he assisted in recording and producing sessions for Laurent De Stepper Trio, Marion Fiedler, Smatka, Kitty Hoff, and Dyse. He co-hosted over 100 episodes of "Panorama Dźwięku" on Academic Radio Luz.
He spent three months as a sailor - as a sound technician, he sailed around the Canary Islands.
Privately, he is a fan of genre cinema and arthouse films. He loves pour-over coffee style, yoga, and platformer video games.
